Nature’s Champion Olympic National Park, National Geographic: Lake Crescent

Duck silhouette swimming in calm lake surrounded by mountains.

A duck swimming breaks the placid waters of Lake Crescent, a pristine glacial lake in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains.

The lake is 600 feet deep in some places and has very clear water because of the lack of nitrogen, which keeps algae from growing.

It is located in the northern part of Olympic National Park.
