Kamchatka, Russia | Where the Salmon Rule, National Geographic Magazine: Aerial Landscape of Meandering Braided Streams | Northern Kamchatka

Once you leave Petropavlovsk, the landscape changes. If you fly by MI-8 helicopter between Tilichiki and Khailino you fly over the Vyvenka River which links these two communities.  When you are flying up north, there are miles and miles of untouched tundra, streams, wetland, and rivers like this meandering, unconstrained river that is a perfect environment for salmon spawning.
